Meet the Artist

Renee Hawkyard
Watercolor Artist
My name is Renee Hawkyard. As early as age five I was designing doll clothes by cutting up stretchy socks: skirts from the ribbing at the top, blouses from the toe and hats from the heel. I’ve always been attracted to design and art venues, so it made perfect sense that my college concentration would include these areas.
The study of home economics and art during my under graduate years broadened my appreciation for color and design as it was woven in each of the areas of home economics study: housing and home management (architecture, drafting, interior design and function, furniture styles, construction and upholstery) clothing and textiles (science of textiles and influences, historic clothing, design, pattern drafting and construction), foods and nutrition (creative pleasing presentation of foods and table settings), equipment and consumer ed (design, function, costs), child development (age appropriate art activities and environment designs).
Also color theory, design and other skills were learned in a variety art classes such as: color and design, drawing, figure drawing, sculpture, jewelry making, pottery, painting and mixed media.
My career as a high school and adult teacher has paved the way to my retirement years where I have been able to concentrate on my painting passion. Painting has always been my favorite study and practice.
